My first entry for the #MCAdoptables Gijinka contest, being run by :icongonah: over in her journal. :)

The contest is to draw your adoptable as a Gijinka, which I took to mean human/humanoid of some sort.

So this is my deviron, Diesel

I tried to incorporate his markings without actually making them ALL into tattoos, so the tears in his clothing are the stripes and he has anklets. His belt buckle says "160606" because that is the kiriban number I caught to win him. ;) Also, as he is a deviron, that means he is a taming adoptable, so I showed that by giving him a Choubou (my one, Mellie specifically because I didn't want to randomly invent one and accidentally rip-off someone else's) on his arm. Also his temperament is "cunning" so I attempted to draw his facial expression like that but i have no idea what cunning looks like so might have failed there....

anyway, this is pretty crappy as I am SO rusty on drawing at the moment. But I'll keep it up and hopefully whip out the other 3 I plan to do before the week is up.

And now I go snooze.

*still totally misses the concepts of gijinkas and adoptables DESPITE a fair bit of googling*

WHATEVER. I am in love with the way you've portrayed the stripes in the adoptable as rips. It gives exactly the right feel without being obvious. And of course, the mix of punk-ish and that ADORABLE little watermelon bird (choubou is it?) makes me all happy inside~

ummm gijinkas are just like, humanoid representations of things but not quite anthro. More presented in clothing and stuff than just giving ears and a tail. That's what I took it to be, at least.
As for adoptables, they are just things you can collect that are pretty like neopets and you can do games and breed them and stuff. <D And I've always liked that sort of thing sooo... <D

Thanks a lot! I know the watermelon Choubou (you were correct!) is so out of place with the rest of his character but it's the only Choubou I have <D

Thanks so much for the lovely comment <333

Ohhh I think that clears things up a bit more.~

Andand I keep seeing the adoptables and they look ADORABLE. Did you commission/breed all of yours, or did you manage to claim one? *has been reading up... a bit* Because I'm still confused about the claiming. xD

&& I like the fact the Choubou is so bright and shiny and pretty! For some reason it makes the contrast between the two even cooler. =3

You're welcome, m'deeeear~

OKAY WELL BASICALLY, the general idea is that if you watch the group or are a member, you will receive in your inbox adoptables that are up for adoption. Normally, all that is required to "claim" them is to be the first to state "claim" and a name you would like for it, however now the group is so popular the adoptable will be taken within a matter of seconds. I've never managed to get a first come first serve one, but as you can see I have 6 of them so there's tonnes of other ways to get them XD

There are "conditional" ones where you have to meet the condition AND "claim" it to get it, for example you have to have been on dA a certain number of years or guess it's favourite food or something, and these last longer. There are other ways to get one for free, like breeding when the season is open (also first come first serve) or winning kiribans, raffles and contests. Otherwise, you can commission one (can have whatever markings, accessories or anatomy you want this way instead of just the standard ones) with real money (but I can't afford that) or SG, that you can obtain again through contests or "jobs." You can ALSO "tame" WILD adoptables, which is based on probability instead of first come first serve. You can increase your likelihood of taming one if you have a "taming" adoptable with the corresponding "temperament" i.e I have a deviron that is "cunning," which ups my chance of taming a "wild ferrotiel" by 100%. There are also "Beast Masters" you can hire and bribe to tame wild adoptables for you.

As for mine, I won my first one in a design competition, I commissioned my second with the SG (the e-money they use in the game, sort of like neopoints) that I also won in that contest, I commissioned my third with actual money (but it was literally about 3 quid so I didn't feel so bad) I got my fourth on a "conditional" claim where the condition was to tell the funniest lie, I got my fifth by catching the group's 160,606th pageview, and I bred my sixth using one of mine and one of my friend's.(which normally doesn't cost money, but it's first come first serve and despite posting the comment IMMEDIATELY as the breeding season opened, I was still too late (will press send about 20 seconds earlier next time) so I bought an extra breeding slot.) We also used an item I bought with SG in that breeding so we'd get twins and my friend got the other, so overall buying the extra slot turned out to be cheaper than what you would pay for commissioning two adoptables XD

I AM SO SAD but this is such a fun group. I'm trying to make my own but with a twist, as there are tonnes the same as this one now.

OSHIT. Okay, finally getting round to long comment reply. xD

First off, thanks for the information! It's pretty much cleared everything up for me. It seems like one of those things you really have to get into to make it worthwhile, and I think I'm probably too slow to do anything (as you may have noticed by the lateness of comments ehehe).

Also seems that you really need to get your first adoptable in order to do other things, ie breeding, which is where the most fun is. And, with the popularity, it seems increasingly harder to do without paying for anything. Buhhh. I think if I see any less popular adoptable-type groups, I may join them, but as this is the biggest (I assume), it needs to be with people more dedicated than I. xD

Saying all that though, it does look really fun! And if you ever DO start up an agency, I will definitely be joining. Especially if it's with those creatures in your scraps. =)

ROFL I forgot about this massive comment, sorry <D

That's ok :) I mean, I can always give you one of mine next trading season <D There's one I wouldn't mind giving away. Except I said I would breed her with someone else's.... if I end up doing any more breedings you can have one, too, if you really wanted. XD And there are TONNES of less popular agencies, try one run by a deviant called *Nyx--Nyx (I can't remember the name of her group) I am only a member of this one because I like the art consistency - I don't want to adopt any others because they wouldn't fit in... <D I AM SO WEIRD.

I will see <D maybe i will and maybe i won't...

I think I may just go for the less popular ones. It seems a lot easier to get into, especially for someone who panics with timed things ie claiming. But thank you for the kind offer~

Duuuuuude~
I just adore how unique and original you've made your gijinkas! Seriously dude, this is well cool. The fact that you've even thought of the ripped clothes too instead of going down the whole tattoo route is genius.

You should be proud, seriously, you really underestimate yourself.
This is so refreshing in a sea of what I'm sure is uber pretty big eyed anime folk, this is raw and awesome

Ah! thanks very much :) I am pretty happy with this adaptation, I have to say.

Though you are right that mine is the least anime-ish and cute and anthro of them all, which makes me a bit worried that I've missed something here...!
